How We Work

We are a network of high school students in Austin, Texas, bound by a common goal of helping our peers to find academic success.

Our goal is to provide educational aid to all students, including those who cannot afford it. For this reason, we offer tutoring for the SAT, ACT, PSAT, SAT Subject Tests, and a variety of specific classes free of charge. We also offer our services both in person in South Austin, Texas, as well as online through video and text chat platforms.

Hello! My name is Sarah Chieng and I’ve always loved working with kids. I’ve volunteered at Camp CAMP, the Thinkery, and have participated in multiple tutoring programs at school. I am the co-president of our Math Honor Society and a captain of our Science Olympiad team.

Francisca Li

Hello! I am Francisca Li. Through my experiences with volunteering at the Thinkery and at Small MS STEAM camps, I work very well with kids of all ages. In addition, I have extensive experience in a large range of math subjects, being a grader for MTY Academy for many years. Outside of school, I am a competitive Olympic Style Recurve archer and am a Level 1 USA Archery instructor. I also enjoy spending my time on various graphic design projects.

Hi. My name is Taka and I like working with kids. I have a lot of professional experience in tutoring, and I started tutoring about a year ago at Kumon. I have been tutoring Math and English every weekend since I started. I like to participate in Computer Science Competitions and play video games.

Hi, my name is Mikey Orta and I am excited to be a part of Headway Tutors. I am a middle child with two younger siblings who I assist with homework already. I enjoy working with kids and would love to be able to help your child in their educational career. Just this past summer alone, I volunteered at the Clint Small Middle School STEAM camp for 135 hours. I worked with children of elementary and middle school ages, and because of my experience I feel comfortable working with both younger and older children and teenagers alike.

Hey! My name is Hannah and I am ecstatic to join the Headway Tutoring team. I absolutely love working with others and helping students achieve their academic goals. During my junior year, I was a part of the Peer Assistance & Leadership Program where I mentored students grades 1-5 at Overton and Andrews Elementary School. I have also volunteered at Clint Small STEAM Camp, a camp for children grades 3-8, during the past three summers for a total of 353 hours. In short, I absolutely love working with kids and I would be happy to help students of any age with Language Arts, French, and Math.

In addition to volunteering at the Austin Nature and Science Center and the Thinkery, I have a wide range of extracurricular interests including Orchestra, Cross Country, and watching football. Elias Little

Hello, my name is Elias Little. I spend the vast majority of my time tinkering around in various subjects and hobbies. I enjoy learning about different ways to think about concepts in math and science, as well as a bunch of random, and interesting, though not always useful facts. I am the President of Orchestra and I play the cello, and I have also learned many other instruments on my own such as guitar, ukulele, and electric bass. I am also a member of robotics and in the off case I have some extra time that’s not consumed by any of the above I have several workshop projects going on including building a guitar, and knife.
